The 20-person Bahamas delegation to Imex America reported strong business during the show in Las Vegas, making connections with a diverse array of industry leaders.
“We spoke to a variety of groups — multicultural, incentive, sports,” said Janet Cuffie, director of the Bahamas Tourist Office in Toronto. She noted that 40% of tourism to the Caribbean nation comes from group sales.
She said tourism is “bouncing back strong” following the pandemic trough, and that the record turnout at Imex America left her optimistic about the future.
A chief goal of the Bahamas’ presence at the show, Cuffie said, was to “educate meeting planners that we are more than one island.” The tourist office represents resorts and other tourism infrastructure on 16 of the archipelago’s islands.
