Barbados tourism shines with European Legends Golf Tournament hosting

Barbados hosts the European Legends Golf Tournament in May, spotlighting elite golfers and showcasing the island as a top event destination.

The Barbados Tourism Marketing Inc. (BTMI) has taken on the role of official sponsor for the prestigious European Legends Golf Tournament, which is scheduled to be held in the vibrant and picturesque Barbados in the month of May. This distinguished event is expected to draw an impressive lineup of participants, including 50 professional golfers and 75 enthusiastic amateurs. Among these participants is the renowned Welsh professional golfer, Ian Woosnam, who will not only compete but also serve as an esteemed ambassador and host for the tournament.

Mrs. Shelly Williams, the Chairperson of BTMI, expressed her enthusiasm about the tournament’s potential to put Barbados in the spotlight. She articulated how the event represents a golden opportunity for the island to demonstrate its captivating beauty and its capability to organize and execute events of such a significant scale. Williams believes that the tournament will play a crucial role in enhancing Barbados’s image as a premier destination for both tourism and international sporting events.

Adding to the excitement, Jody Addison, the esteemed Director of Golf at Apes Hill, shed light on the strategic partnership forged between the venue and the Legends Tour. This collaboration, which spans three years, guarantees that Apes Hill will host top-tier golf professionals up until the year 2026. Addison underscored the importance of this partnership, viewing it as a milestone in Apes Hill’s journey towards becoming the most sought-after golf and lifestyle venue in the Caribbean. He elaborated on how being chosen as the host venue not only honors the resort’s vision but also underscores its commitment to excellence and its ambition to set new benchmarks in the world of golf and leisure.
