Batik Air has announced the introduction of a new flight route to Guilin, marking the airline’s seventh destination in China. This new route is part of Batik Air’s broader strategy to expand its network, responding to the growing demand for international travel between Malaysia and China. The CEO of Batik Air, Datuk Chandran Rama Muthy, stated that the airline now operates a total of 23 weekly frequencies to six destinations across China. This expansion is strategically aligned with the 30-day visa-free travel policy for Chinese tourists visiting Malaysia, aiming to facilitate easier travel and cultural exchange between the two countries.

Launch Details and Flight Information

The service to Guilin is scheduled to begin operations on June 4, 2024. Batik Air will deploy the B737-800 aircraft for this route, with flights operating three times a week. Specifically, flights will depart from Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) every Tuesday, Thursday, and Sunday, with return journeys from Guilin Liangjiang International Airport (KWL) on the same days. This schedule is designed to cater to both leisure and business travelers, offering convenient options for exploring new destinations or conducting business.

Special Offers and Passenger Incentives

To celebrate the launch of the Guilin route, Batik Air is introducing special promotional fares. Passengers can enjoy all-inclusive one-way tickets starting at RM669 for Economy class and RM1,889 for Business class. These introductory offers are intended to attract travelers looking to explore Guilin’s scenic landscapes and rich cultural heritage. Additionally, the airline is offering discounts on extra baggage allowances and pre-purchased meals. While pre-purchased meal selections are available at a discount, passengers also have the option to buy meals and drinks during the flight, ensuring flexibility and convenience.

Impact on Air Travel and Tourism

The introduction of this new route by Batik Air is expected to have a significant impact on air travel and tourism between Malaysia and China. By increasing the frequency of flights and adding new destinations, Batik Air is not only enhancing its service offering but also supporting the tourism sectors in both countries. The visa-free policy coupled with more accessible flight options is likely to boost tourist numbers, contributing to economic growth and cultural exchange. For the tourism industry, this means a potential increase in visitors and a boost in tourism-related revenues, providing a welcome lift to local economies.

By facilitating easier and more affordable travel, Batik Air’s new route to Guilin is set to enhance the connectivity between Malaysia and China, further enriching the global travel landscape and offering travelers more opportunities to explore diverse destinations.
