Berlin Welcomes Experts to Accessible Tourism Day 2025 for Global Inclusion

The highly anticipated Accessible Tourism Day is set to take place on Wednesday, March 5, 2025, from 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the CityCube, Messe Berlin.

Hosted by the German National Tourist Board (GNTB), this event will feature renowned national and international experts who will explore strategies and advancements in inclusive travel. The program includes keynote speeches, success stories, and panel discussions addressing the evolution of accessible tourism over the next decade. Key topics include inclusive travel experiences for children and youth, accessible nature-based tourism, and advancements in digital and AI technologies for accessibility.

Other highlights include insights into the Accessibility Reinforcement Act, updates on the restructured Travel for All certification system, and discussions on integrating accessibility into tourism policies.

The agenda is curated by the GNTB in collaboration with advisory groups such as Easier Travel – Barrier-Free Holiday Destinations in Germany, the state working group Tourism for All, and the Tourism Working Group of the German Disability Council (DBR).

The event will commence with opening remarks by Dieter Janecek, Member of Parliament and Federal Government Commissioner for Tourism. Jürgen Dusel, Federal Government Commissioner for the Interests of People with Disabilities, and André Nowak, spokesperson for the Tourism Working Group at the DBR, will deliver welcome speeches.

Petra Hedorfer, CEO of the GNTB, explains: ‘Accessibility is an integral part of our sustainability strategy, which includes socially responsible tourism offerings as well as climate and environmentally friendly travel. Progress in the digital transformation, such as the planned integration of accessible offers in the GNTB Knowledge Graph, strengthens Germany’s position as an attractive destination for people with a need for inclusive offers.’

Supported by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and Messe Berlin/ITB, Accessible Tourism Day promises a rich experience for attendees. The event will be conducted in both German and English, with simultaneous interpretation services, including sign language and written translation. While online participation is free, on-site attendees will need an ITB ticket.
