A partnership between Sun Country Airlines and the Landline Company was recently unveiled, introducing a new shuttle service set to serve the Brainerd Lakes Area starting in March. This collaboration aims to facilitate a direct link for travellers between Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport (BRD) and Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, enhancing the connectivity to Sun Country Airlines’ network.

This initiative plans to operate four bus shuttles daily to the Twin Cities, offering a more convenient travel option for the local community.

Steven Wright, the Director of Brainerd Lakes Regional Airport, has shared his optimism regarding the potential appeal of this service to Minnesotans, emphasizing the growing demand for convenience in travel. He pointed out the reluctance of people to undertake the lengthy drive of approximately two and a half to three hours, highlighting the service’s offer of free parking at the airport and a smooth travel transition.

Wright elaborated that whether it’s the daily bus service or the existing aircraft service provided through BRD, passengers can expect to reach their destinations feeling refreshed rather than exhausted.

The shuttle service is scheduled to operate six days a week from March 21 to April 11 and will adjust to five days a week from April 12 through May 31. In addition, Sun Country Airlines has announced it will not charge for connections between the two airports up until September 9, further adding to the service’s appeal.

This new shuttle service is likely to have a significant impact on tourism within the Brainerd Lakes Area. By simplifying the journey to and from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport, the service is expected to enhance the area’s accessibility for tourists, potentially increasing visitor numbers.

The convenience of direct bus connections to the Sun Country Airlines network could encourage more travelers to explore the scenic beauty and recreational activities the Brainerd Lakes Area has to offer. From the service’s initiation through to its daily operations, this enhanced connectivity will likely play a crucial role in promoting the region as a desirable destination, contributing positively to its tourism industry and local economy.
