Now it’s time for Wayne McMillan to take down the decorations of Canada Day from his boat, after a weekend of festivity.

McMillan said that the celebrations do have to conclude but this will be carried on board till 2024. The Moffat, Ont. resident and Barb Hankinson, his wife, since Thursday have been in Ottawa developing along the Rideau Canal. For a few years, they had it on their bucket list with the vessel and they succeeded in doing it in 2023.

They had great days in terms of coupling touring the senate, war museum, said Hankinson.

To the nation’s capital, the Canada Day weekend attracted thousands of people. This 2023 witnessed many eateries fully crowded and hotel bookings all done, busier than the years before.

From Maryland, Edward Nieh and his family drove in to spend July’s first week, travelling the country.

He said that they started off in the Thousand Islands, traversed the border and at present they’re creating their way through Canada, he said.

Also, the arrival of visitors caused an increasing presence of police in all the core areas, particularly at night. Its part of the ‘MarketSafe’ initiative of Ottawa Police Service, which in the area makes more officers visible between 8 p.m. and 3 a.m. in the long weekend.

Few steps away from Parliament Hill, a stable stream of tourism enthusiasts climbed aboard the red double-decker buses, much to the happiness of the businesses in the region.
