City Sightseeing Glasgow has declared the introduction of an additional yellow tour route, set to commence on May 17. This expansion complements the existing open-top bus rides, which already showcase the city’s key attractions.

The new route promises to guide tourists through 19 notable destinations, encompassing Tennent’s Brewery, Barrowlands, Celtic Park and Emirates Stadium, Tramway, Pollock Park, the Burrell Collection, House for an Art Lover, Ibrox, and the Glasgow Science Centre.Originating from North Hanover Street near George Square, the yellow route is scheduled to function as a summer tour until September. It will operate daily from 10 am to 4 pm, offering departures every 30 minutes.

The tour is designed to last approximately one hour and 30 minutes, offering visitors a comprehensive exploration of Glasgow’s diverse attractions.Additionally, combo tickets will be made available, allowing guests to seamlessly transition between the red and yellow routes at various connecting points, such as George Square and North Hanover Street, Merchant City, Barras, St Enoch, Oswald Street for Central Station, and Buchanan Bus Station.

Richy Graham, the operations manager at City Sightseeing Glasgow, emphasized the tours’ flexibility, enabling visitors to discover the city’s industrial heritage, culture, music scene, sports venues, and art collections at their own pace. The commentary for the yellow route, crafted by Sabrina Allison, managing director at Discover Glasgow, aims to unveil the rich history and essence of Glasgow’s East End, Southside, and Govan.

The introduction of 10 new electric buses to the red route this summer marks a significant upgrade in the service, enhancing the sustainability of the tours.

Stewart McDonald MP for Glasgow South highlighted the potential of the yellow route to spotlight the area’s diverse attractions and provide easy access to cultural landmarks. He noted the inclusion of Hampden Stadium, appealing to football fans and tourists keen on exploring the city’s sporting heritage.

The initiative is anticipated to not only enrich the tourist experience but also instill local pride and stimulate economic development. The launch of the summer tour is eagerly awaited, promising to increase connectivity and celebrate Glasgow’s Southside.
