Cumbria might appear like a rough patch in north-west England. However, its promising initiatives to manoeuvre itself in a better-encompassing way in the field of tourism are set to overturn the tables in terms of gaining prominence.

Windermere cruises and stargazing events are just two of the many activities that Cumbria has to offer visitors. Other attractions include the breathtaking landscapes of the Lake District National Park and cultural, historical, and culinary experiences.

One can also find fascinating spots such as the West Coast, Morecambe Bay, the Eden Valley, the North Pennines, Carlisle, and the Yorkshire Dales. These locations serve as excellent models of how sustainable tourism can be successfully incorporated into regions of exceptional natural beauty.

These locations are well known for their stunning scenery and rich cultural history, but they are also well known for their dedication to protecting the environment while still being tourist destinations. In order to minimize carbon footprints, sustainable tourism practices in these regions encourage the use of local businesses and produce, promote cycling and public transportation, and carry out conservation projects to save wildlife and natural habitats.

Travel And Tour World has had the good fortune to interview the project officer, Amanda Shaw, Cumbria Tourism. She spoke her mind concerning the sustainable aspect of the World Travel Market 2023. She comprehended, “We’re committed to sustainable tourism, with several projects underway to promote environmental stewardship while continuing to build our international presence.”

Cumbria is also a major contributor to job creation, which improves employment prospects. In order to address this, they have partnered with the Cumbria Community Foundation to create a new charitable fund that will offer financial assistance to individuals wishing to enter the county’s tourism sector.

In a scene straight out of a movie, Cumbria’s Lake District is home to Mardale Green, a hidden village. In order to build the Haweswater Reservoir, which serves as a water source for Manchester, this village was excavated and encased in water in the 1930s. During dry spells, the underwater village is nevertheless discernible, making for a picturesque setting.

Beyond the ruins of Mardale Green, the vicinity is breathtakingly beautiful. Going up the nearby High Street mountain lets travellers see amazing views over the reservoir.
