Meanwhile, the Direct Delivery stream—which supports projects such as the Bob MacQuarrie Recreation Complex—will provide CA$6 billion over a decade, including targeted funding delivered through Canada’s Regional Development Agencies for locally significant infrastructure initiatives.

The federal government expects provincial, municipal, territorial and private-sector partners to leverage additional investment alongside federal contributions, significantly increasing the programme’s total economic impact.

Officials estimate the initiative could boost Canada’s gross domestic product by approximately CA$95 billion over the next decade.

The federal government has also confirmed that at least 10% of Direct Delivery stream funding will support projects within Indigenous communities, reinforcing broader commitments to inclusive national infrastructure development.

In addition, Indigenous organisations and territorial applicants continue to have the opportunity to submit shovel-ready projects under the Direct Delivery stream until 12 August 2026, helping ensure infrastructure investments reach diverse communities across the country.

As with all federally funded infrastructure projects, final funding remains subject to contribution agreements, environmental assessments and consultation obligations where applicable.
