During the lead-up to Christmas, Edinburgh Airport anticipates hosting over 100,000 individuals who are embarking on journeys to reunite with loved ones or explore various destinations during the holiday season. Between December 22nd and Christmas Eve, an estimated 103,000 passengers will traverse through Scotland’s busiest airport, with over 6,000 travelers anticipated on Christmas Day itself.

Key destinations on Christmas Day include places like Doha, Tenerife, New York, and Toronto, while numerous passengers will also use hub airports like Amsterdam and Frankfurt for connecting flights to other locations.

Gordon Dewar, Edinburgh Airport Chief Executive, expressed excitement about facilitating connections—whether for families reuniting or individuals seeking new experiences. He mentioned, “The festive season is a time when many of us desire to be with our loved ones. We’re delighted to aid people in reconnecting, both domestically and internationally—our gift to them during Christmas.”

Acknowledging the airport’s role in fostering connections and providing opportunities for both familial gatherings and serene getaways, Gordon extended warm wishes for a wonderful holiday season to all travelers. Additionally, the airport will welcome numerous visitors for Hogmanay and New Year celebrations between December 29th and 31st.

Expecting a considerable influx of more than 55,000 visitors to Edinburgh for the transition into 2023, Gordon noted the city’s reputation for hosting renowned Hogmanay celebrations. He expressed gratitude for the honor of welcoming guests from the USA, Canada, Germany, Finland, and various regions across the UK.

Gordon emphasized, “Edinburgh is renowned for its vibrant festivities, and our Hogmanay celebrations are internationally acclaimed. It’s truly an honor that people choose Scotland to ring in the New Year. We owe this celebratory atmosphere to our exceptional airport staff, who work diligently during this festive period to ensure smooth travel experiences for our passengers. A heartfelt thank you to everyone contributing to creating joyful memories for our travelers.”
