The airline connections of Seychelles are being tightened up, which is happening amid a period when persuading people to go there is as important as making sure that people travel to the destination. Tourism Seychelles has strengthened its relationship with Emirates, and IndiGo has introduced direct connectivity between Mumbai and Mahé, ensuring more access for the destination to the international as well as Indian market. The development is happening in conjunction with the resumption of operations by Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Aeroflot for the 2026 summer season.
The latest development came on 12 June 2026, when Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture met senior Emirates executives during a courtesy meeting.
The discussions reviewed tourism performance, the impact of Middle East geopolitical disruption and strategies for restoring demand. Emirates reaffirmed support through continued connectivity, joint marketing activities and promotional initiatives across key source markets.
The partnership is not new. Seychelles and Emirates renewed their strategic agreement at the Arabian Travel Market in Dubai on 29 April 2025. Under that arrangement, Emirates and Tourism Seychelles committed to joint destination promotion, support for travel agents and tour operators, special promotional packages, incentives and familiarisation trips.

Emirates has operated to the Seychelles since 2005 and provides year-round connectivity through Dubai. Its current network also offers connections between Mahé and Praslin through its partnership with Air Seychelles.
That makes Dubai an important gateway for visitors travelling from Europe, Asia, the Middle East and other international markets.
India is another market where connectivity is doing some serious tourism heavy lifting.
IndiGo launched direct Mumbai-Mahé flights on 22 March 2025, introducing four weekly services between the two destinations. Tourism Seychelles subsequently included IndiGo among its airline and tourism partners during its 2026 India Roadshow across Mumbai, Ahmedabad and Delhi.

The Indian market has been expanding rapidly. Seychelles recorded approximately 13,400 Indian arrivals in 2025, almost 75% higher than the previous year. Tourism Seychelles’ India campaign has targeted luxury holidays, honeymoons, weddings, family trips, MICE travel and special-interest experiences.
The direct Mumbai service gives Indian travellers a simpler route to Mahé, reducing dependence on connecting itineraries.
For visitors arriving from Mumbai, Seychelles International Airport at Pointe Larue on Mahé is the main international gateway. From there, travellers can continue to Praslin, La Digue and other islands by domestic flight, ferry or boat.
Emirates and IndiGo are not operating in isolation.
Tourism Seychelles announced in June 2026 that Qatar Airways, Turkish Airlines and Aeroflot were resuming or expanding services earlier in the summer season.
Qatar Airways resumed operations on 16 June 2026, with four weekly flights through Doha. Turkish Airlines returned on 17 June, while Aeroflot was scheduled to resume services from 8 July with two weekly flights.
The additional capacity gives Seychelles more connections to Europe, Russia, the Middle East and beyond.
The destination has also worked to maintain European access through Air Seychelles. In March 2026, the national carrier announced direct Paris services three times weekly from 20 March through May, operated with Etihad Airways, alongside a twice-weekly Rome service beginning 28 March.
Seychelles has a geographical challenge that many mainland destinations simply do not face.
Visitors cannot drive across a border or take a conventional intercity train to reach the archipelago. International flights are therefore fundamental to tourism performance.
Tourism Seychelles has repeatedly linked air connectivity with visitor growth, while its partnerships with airlines combine seat capacity with destination marketing.
The Emirates agreement, for example, includes promotional activity, trade support and familiarisation trips. The India roadshow similarly brought tourism businesses and IndiGo together with travel agents and tour operators.
The result is a two-sided tourism strategy: airlines provide access, while destination marketing helps fill that access with demand.
Once visitors reach Mahé, Seychelles opens into a multi-island holiday rather than a single-resort experience.
Mahé offers Victoria, the capital, alongside beaches, hiking routes and cultural attractions. Travellers can explore Morne Seychellois National Park, visit local markets and experience Creole cuisine.
Praslin brings the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve, while La Digue is known for cycling, granite landscapes and Anse Source d’Argent.
Island-hopping, diving, snorkelling, hiking, wildlife experiences, wellness stays and luxury resorts give travellers multiple ways to build an itinerary.
The local currency is the Seychellois rupee, while major tourism establishments generally accept international payment cards.
