The Philippines Department of Tourism (DOT) has developed a new open data dashboard giving everyone a chance to view key tourism figures ranging from international visitors and out-of-country travelers, to contributions to economy and job numbers in the sector. The newly introduced Philippine Tourism Data Dashboard is meant to enhance transparency and facilitate better access to tourism data for all parties interested.

Users can analyze the major tourism metrics allowing government institutions, businesses in the field of tourism, local administrations and communities to have a more informed understanding of performance in the tourism sector and potential future developments. This new project is an evidence of the increased attention the DOT pays to data-driven management of tourism, where information helps with better planning and investments in sustainable development of destinations.

Dashboard Tracks Visitor Arrivals and International Travel Trends Since 2010

One of the main features of the new platform is its extensive visitor arrival database. The dashboard provides access to international visitor arrival data dating back to 2010, allowing users to analyse long-term tourism trends and understand how travel demand has changed over time. It also includes outbound traveller data from 2023 to 2025, providing insights into Filipinos travelling overseas.

Users can explore tourism statistics through different views, including:

  • Monthly visitor arrival trends
  • Year-on-year comparisons
  • Seasonal travel patterns
  • Leading visitor source markets
  • Country-by-country arrival data

The system allows users to identify periods of stronger visitor demand and examine how tourism performance changes from one year to another. This information can support tourism businesses in planning marketing strategies, investment decisions and service development.

United States and South Korea Lead Philippines Visitor Source Markets in 2026

The dashboard provides updated insights into the Philippines’ international visitor markets. As of 31 August 2026, the platform recorded 4,415,860 visitor arrivals, representing a 0.78 percent increase compared with 4,381,585 arrivals during the same period in 2025. The United States ranked as the Philippines’ largest visitor source market during the period, contributing:

  • 926,575 arrivals
  • 20.98 percent of total visitors

South Korea followed with:

  • 744,732 arrivals
  • 16.86 percent of total visitors

The data highlights the continued importance of major international markets while allowing tourism stakeholders to monitor changing visitor patterns. The arrival figures combine information from eTravel records managed by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and data from the Bureau of Immigration, providing a more comprehensive overview of international visitor movement.

Tourism Dashboard Measures Economic Contribution Beyond Visitor Numbers

The new platform goes beyond tracking arrivals by also measuring tourism’s wider economic impact. The dashboard includes Tourism Direct Gross Value Added (TDGVA) data from the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA), showing how tourism contributes to the national economy. Users can examine how different industries contribute to tourism-related economic activity, including:

  • Accommodation services
  • Transportation
  • Food and beverage businesses
  • Other tourism-related sectors

This information provides a broader understanding of tourism’s role beyond visitor numbers. By analysing economic contribution, policymakers and businesses can identify areas of opportunity and understand which parts of the tourism industry generate significant value.

Employment Data Highlights Tourism’s Role in Philippine Economy

The Philippine Tourism Data Dashboard also includes employment information, showing the sector’s contribution to national jobs.

The platform compares:

  • Total national employment
  • Tourism-related employment
  • Tourism’s percentage share of jobs

Tourism remains an important source of employment across the Philippines, supporting businesses and communities throughout the country. Employment data helps demonstrate the wider social and economic importance of tourism, including opportunities created through hospitality, transportation, food services, attractions and local enterprises. The availability of this information allows stakeholders to better understand tourism’s contribution to livelihoods nationwide.

DOT Promotes Data Access as Foundation for Stronger Tourism Growth

Tourism Secretary Dita Angara-Mathay said the dashboard represents the department’s commitment to transparency and informed decision-making. She highlighted that access to reliable tourism information allows local governments, businesses and communities to better understand industry performance and identify opportunities.

The DOT believes that when stakeholders can directly access tourism data, they become active participants in tourism development rather than simply observers. The dashboard supports a more collaborative approach where government agencies, private businesses and communities can use shared information to strengthen the sector.

Researchers and Businesses Gain Access to Downloadable Tourism Datasets

The platform has been designed not only for general public use but also for researchers, journalists and tourism professionals. Users can access:

  • Data dictionaries explaining indicators
  • Downloadable datasets
  • Detailed information behind dashboard charts

Providing downloadable information allows analysts and stakeholders to conduct deeper research and develop evidence-based insights. For tourism businesses, access to accurate market information can support better decision-making regarding product development, visitor targeting and investment planning.

Digital Tourism Governance Supports Philippines’ Future Growth Strategy

The launch of the tourism dashboard forms part of the Philippines activities for Philippine Tourist Promotion Month in September. It complements the Discover More To Love campaign, which aims to promote the country’s destinations while expanding public access to tourism opportunities and information.

The DOT intends to continue maintaining public access to tourism data as a permanent feature of its digital initiatives. The move reflects a broader global trend where tourism organisations are increasingly using technology, analytics and open information systems to improve destination management.

Philippines Moves Towards Smarter and More Transparent Tourism Development

The Philippine Tourism Data Dashboard is a significant move towards building a data-driven tourism industry in the Philippines. With this tool, the DOT allows all the stakeholders involved in the industry to gain insights into how the industry is performing through the use of data related to arrivals, economy, and employment.

This initiative can help in planning and investments and build stronger collaborations among all the entities involved in the tourism industry. This is because the country has started developing its tourism industry and data is going to become more critical in this process.
