As spring break travel continues for families across the United States, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) anticipates that next week will be the busiest of the season. The majority of travelers are expected to take off on Thursday, April 4th.

According to the FAA’s projections, spring break traffic will peak on Thursday, April 4th with approximately 50,670 flights, followed by 48,904 flights on Friday, April 5th. Additionally, Thursday, March 28th is also expected to have over 50,000 flights. While many travelers are heading to popular vacation spots, a significant number are traveling to various states to witness ‘The Great North American Eclipse’ on Monday, April 8th. Travelers along the eclipse path may experience limited parking and potential delays at airports due to the increased number of aircraft and drones attempting to view the total solar eclipse.

Whether you’re traveling for leisure or to witness the solar eclipse, the FAA is committed to ensuring your safe arrival at your destination. The FAA advises pilots to be mindful of potential impacts on air traffic and airports along the eclipse path and is providing guidance to both commercial and private aircraft before their flights to witness this phenomenon.

The FAA also reminds spring break travelers to exercise patience, allocate extra time at airports, and pack safely:

By adhering to these guidelines, travelers can contribute to a safer and smoother travel experience during this busy spring break period.
