Panasonic Avionics Corporation (Panasonic Avionics), a leading global provider of in-flight engagement and connectivity (IFEC) solutions, has recently inked a deal with Croatia Airlines to furnish Wi-Fi services for the airline’s brand-new Airbus A220 fleet.

Croatia’s national carrier has made a firm commitment to equip its fleet with Wi-Fi capabilities for the first time ever, by installing Panasonic Avionics’ Ku-band satellite connectivity on its 15 new A220s by 2027. The inaugural aircraft is scheduled to commence operations in June 2024.

Travelers aboard Croatia Airlines’ A220 planes will gain access to high-speed in-flight Wi-Fi, allowing them to stay connected, work, browse the internet, or communicate with loved ones via their enabled devices while airborne. Additionally, each seat in the new A220 fleet will be equipped with USB-A and USB-C ports, along with convenient smartphone and tablet holders, enhancing passenger convenience.

Croatia Airlines has chosen Panasonic Avionics as its preferred provider because of its Ku-band connectivity solution, which meets the airline’s need for cutting-edge connectivity and aligns with Airbus’ A220 platform. This decision underscores Croatia Airlines’ dedication to providing exceptional services to its passengers.

The Ku-band antenna installed on Croatia Airlines’ new A220 fleet will link each aircraft to Panasonic Avionics’ global communications network of high-speed, high-bandwidth satellites, strategically allocating capacity where it’s most needed to meet airlines’ and passengers’ demands.

Hernan Abbes, Vice President of Global Sales, Panasonic Avionics Corporation said: “We are honored that Croatia Airlines has chosen Panasonic Avionics to provide the first ever onboard Wi-Fi services for its fleet. We are confident that it will enhance the airline’s engagement with its passengers and the in-flight experience it offers.”

Jasmin Bajić, CEO at Croatia Airlines said: “We are thrilled to announce the introduction of onboard connectivity for the first time in our thirty-five years history, coinciding with the arrival of the A220 aircraft. This agreement with Panasonic Avionics aligns with our mission to enhance the in-flight passenger experience and deliver top quality connectivity to our valued customers.”

Over 70 prominent airlines worldwide have opted for Panasonic Avionics’ in-flight connectivity services, highlighting the increasing industry need for enhanced and high-speed connectivity solutions.
