Finnair is all set to enhance its Nordic flight offerings for the summer of 2026 with an exciting expansion of routes and frequencies. As part of this growth, the airline will introduce a new service to Alta, a stunning destination in Northern Norway, renowned for its breathtaking Arctic landscapes, outdoor adventures, and incredible northern lights. Beginning March 29 and continuing through October 22, 2026, Finnair will offer five weekly flights to Alta via Kittilä, using a 68-seat ATR aircraft, catering to the increasing interest in Arctic tourism.

Another key addition to Finnair’s network is Tromsø, a city in Norway that will see year-round service for the first time. Finnair has transformed its seasonal service to Tromsø into a full-fledged route, offering five weekly flights from Helsinki via Rovaniemi. This change reflects the growing demand for year-round travel to northern destinations, with Tromsø emerging as a favorite for summer travelers looking to explore the beauty of the Arctic all year long.

Additionally, Ivalo and Kirkenes will see an increase in service frequencies during the summer months. Finnair will boost its Ivalo to Kirkenes flights to five weekly services, up from three in 2025, making it even easier for travelers to experience both Finnish and Norwegian Lapland in a single trip.

“Our network expansion through the Nordic regions allows us to offer travelers seamless connections to some of the most unique and pristine destinations in the world,” said Perttu Jolma, Finnair’s Vice President of Network. “By combining trips to northern gems like Lapland and the fjords of Norway, we are helping our customers create unforgettable journeys that blend adventure and serenity.”

More Summer Options for Regional Travel

Finnair’s summer 2026 network will also include expanded service to several regional destinations. From June to early August, travelers will have more options with the introduction of new flights to:

For winter sports enthusiasts, Finnair will offer increased flight frequencies to Ivalo and Kittilä, two of Lapland’s premier skiing resorts, during April 2026. This will allow skiers and snowboarders to enjoy even more flexibility when planning their winter escapes to the region.
