Rainbow Faith and Freedom’s Worshipping With Love research project, the first phase of the establishment’s Ending Religious-based 2SLGBTQ+ Discrimination in Canada: Faith Sector Awareness and Education Program, gave a clear thought of the connection between places of devotion and the queer community. With the help of the Canada Government’s grant related to Women and Gender Equality, vital research is serving as a platform to emphasize and take on religious-based 2SLGBTQ+ discrimination and exclusions in a better way.
Among the dreadful discoveries:
- 54% of 2SLGBTQ+ people have gone through homophobia or transphobia in their place of worship
- 44% of respondents aged 18 to 24 years report that religion has been utilized as a defense mechanism for homophobia or transphobia directed at them or someone in their presence
- This project’s second phase, Beyond Tolerance: Understanding and Promoting 2SLGBTQ+ Inclusivity in the Places of Worship in Ontario, searches for houses to provide worships of all faiths with resources to integrate inclusion into their audiences and communities.
This training is intended to act as a manager for places of worship that want to be or are in the process of turning into 2SLGBTQ+ affirming and is alienated into three units.
