George Koumendakos – new GM of SofitelLegend Metropole Hanoi

George Koumendakos has been selected as the new General Manager by Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi. The Dutch national comes with 37 years of knowledge comprising 15 years as General Manager in several 5-star hotels globally.

Koumendakos, who is confident in three languages, is a greatly appreciated hotel expert who has worked in 14 countries around the world. Before his role at Metropole Hanoi, Koumendakos has worked lately as the General Manager at Sofitel Kuala Lumpur Damansara in Malaysia. Previously, he also led the pre-opening squad at the Intercontinental Hanoi Landmark 72 Hanoi.

Koumendakos said that Sofitel Legend Metropole Hanoi’s opulent 122-year antiquity, urbane and
sophisticated French majestic design, and heartfelt and custom-made facility, accompanied by its individual sense of French joie de vivre, make it one of the most fabulous hotels in the world. He said that he looks forward to being a part of its succeeding memorable episode.

Koumendakos is a graduate of the well-known hospitality management Hotelschool The Hague in the
Netherlands. He has taken control on the record at Metropole Hanoi on September 25.

Koumendakos’s entrance accords with important landmarks at the hotel, comprising the imminent
reopening of the significant Metropole Wing in December after a wide-ranging restoration that will herald six new Metropole Suites. In recent times, Metropole Hanoi has also re-launched Spice Garden –
its renowned Vietnamese restaurant with a new idea, design and food.
