As many thought that Veerappan, the famous poacher, bandit, and smuggler, who was also a local hero and Tamil Nadu’s Robin Hood, the state government had to go through a very hard time to manage him to such an extent that the government invested crores of money to catch him and at present, when he is no more for a long time now, the Tamil Nadu government is trying to make the most of the situation by earning money by promoting his story.

This effort of the government will turn into an achievement or a failure that time will prove. The forest department for the public, keeping the above in mind, is trying to kick-start a safari in the Gopinatham area. This area served as the erstwhile den of Veerappan. When his activities related to robbery was active in Gopinatham area, locals and even the police used to get scared to enter into these places.

These areas during that time, were looked after by either forest staffs or Special Task Force created to take Verappan into custody. It is said that the as Veerappan has now passed away, people have expressed their desire to explore those places now.

Currently, there is a property that belongs to Jungle Lodges and Resorts mystery trails camps.
