Special summer train links Mettupalayam-Ooty-Coonoor from Mar 29-Jul 1, 2024, inviting global tourists to the Nilgiris.
The Salem Division of the Southern Railway has unveiled plans to launch an exclusive train service traversing the mountainous terrain between Mettupalayam, Ooty, and Coonoor. This unique journey, designed to captivate international visitors, is scheduled to commence on March 29, 2024, and will continue until July 1, 2024, aligning with the peak tourist season in the Nilgiris district.
Renowned globally as a prime vacation spot, the Nilgiris district enjoys its busiest tourist period during the months of April and May, attracting throngs of visitors eager to experience its summer allure.
To accommodate the influx of tourists, the Salem Division will operate this distinctive train service from Mettupalayam to Ooty on Fridays and Sundays, and in the reverse direction from Ooty to Mettupalayam on Saturdays and Sundays, during the specified period.
As the summer draws near, the introduction of this seasonal Toy train, starting March 29, is anticipated to be a major draw for those visiting the Nilgiris, particularly Ooty, offering a memorable experience aboard this charming mode of transport.
