Air Canada Vacations (ACV) wants to expand its travel advisor education program beyond land into the sea. It is launching the Air Canada Vacations Academy At Sea in 2027. The seven-night professional training cruise is hosted on Norwegian Cruise Line’s Norwegian Encore and includes visits to destinations along the Mexican Riviera: Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlan and Puerto Vallarta. The program runs from January 17 – 24, 2027. The Air Canada Vacations Academy At Sea is intended to strengthen cruise sales for Canadian travel advisors by offering a combination of industry education, destination visits and networking all in one travel program.

This new program is a significant jump from the previously offered classroom and digital learning programs. By introducing travel professionals to an onboard cruise environment, travel professionals will receive a firsthand experience of the products, destinations and services that they sell to travelers.
The Air Canada Vacations Academy at Sea will operate under the theme “Learn. Earn. Experience More”, focusing on practical knowledge, professional development and stronger connections between travel advisors and tourism suppliers. The programme has been designed exclusively for Canadian travel advisors who sell holiday packages, cruises and international travel experiences.

During the seven-night sailing, participants will take part in dedicated educational sessions organised by Air Canada Vacations and industry partners. The programme will include supplier training, networking events, hotel inspections and hosted destination experiences designed to provide deeper product understanding. The move highlights the growing importance of travel advisor expertise within the global tourism industry. As travellers increasingly seek personalised holidays and complex multi-component journeys, advisors with first-hand destination and product knowledge play an important role in helping customers select suitable experiences.
The 2027 Academy sailing will showcase three major Mexican Riviera destinations: Cabo San Lucas, Mazatlán and Puerto Vallarta. These coastal destinations continue to attract international visitors through their combination of beaches, culture, food experiences, adventure activities and cruise infrastructure.
Cabo San Lucas has become one of Mexico’s most recognised cruise destinations, known for its dramatic coastline, marine attractions and luxury tourism development. Puerto Vallarta continues to attract travellers through its combination of Pacific beaches, historic areas and cultural experiences, while Mazatlán offers visitors a blend of heritage, waterfront attractions and local traditions. By allowing travel advisors to experience these destinations directly, the programme aims to improve destination knowledge and help professionals better promote Mexican Riviera cruise holidays to Canadian travellers.
The Academy programme will take place aboard Norwegian Encore, a Norwegian Cruise Line vessel operating Mexican Riviera itineraries. The cruise package will include the seven-night sailing, Norwegian Cruise Line’s More At Sea package, training opportunities, networking activities and Air Canada Vacations’ Cruise Promise benefits.

The itinerary will include time at sea specifically dedicated to learning and collaboration, allowing advisors to attend workshops while experiencing the ship’s facilities, services and onboard environment. This approach reflects a wider trend in the travel sector where tourism companies are investing in experiential learning. Instead of relying only on presentations or online courses, travel professionals are increasingly being offered opportunities to test products personally before recommending them to customers.
Air Canada Vacations has introduced launch pricing for the 2027 Academy sailing, with rates beginning at US$1,130 per person for an inside stateroom, US$1,160 per person for an oceanview stateroom and US$1,240 per person for a balcony stateroom, based on double occupancy and availability.
Special Academy airfares will also be available from several Canadian cities, including Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Toronto, Montréal, Québec City and Halifax, helping advisors from different regions participate in the programme. The availability of dedicated air options combined with cruise training creates a complete professional travel experience, connecting Canadian advisors with both transportation and destination partners.
The Air Canada Vacations Academy at Sea programme supports wider growth across the cruise tourism sector by improving the skills and confidence of travel sellers. Well-trained advisors can provide travellers with clearer information about cruise routes, destinations, onboard experiences and holiday options.
For Mexico, the initiative provides additional promotional value by increasing exposure among Canadian travel professionals who influence customer booking decisions. Canada remains an important source market for international tourism, and stronger cruise awareness can support future visitor flows to Mexican Riviera destinations. The programme also strengthens collaboration between airlines, cruise operators, destination suppliers and travel advisors. This type of industry partnership is becoming increasingly important as tourism businesses compete to deliver more personalised and experience-driven holidays.
The 2027 Air Canada Vacations Academy at Sea immersive training will be the first of its kind within the travel industry and will give advisors the ability to learn about cruise travel products and international holidays by integrating educational visits and learning excursions and by taking cruise vacations.
This program will provide Constellation Group’s Air Canada Vacations employees with the tools required to better understand and sell cruise and vacation products. This program also demonstrates educational and tourism industry growth. Travelers want unique and personalized trips made stress-free by travel services that know what they are selling and where they are selling it. Pre-selling cruises and vacation travel is a key part of the Travel Industry, and this program will aid the growth of Travel Industry Education and Cruise and Vacation Travel in one immersive experience.
