HondaJet Elite II has made aviation history as the first production twin-turbine Very Light Jet (VLJ) to incorporate autothrottle, following certification by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), which now permits Honda Aircraft Company to activate this feature on new production models. This milestone marks a pivotal advancement in Honda’s lineup of innovative aircraft, celebrated industry-wide for high cockpit automation.
The autothrottle system automates control over the jet’s speed and thrust in flight. Once pilots set flight parameters and engage autothrottle, the HondaJet’s Garmin G3000® avionics system assumes throttle control, continuously adjusting engine output using sensor data to maintain desired speeds. This not only reduces pilot workload but also enhances passenger comfort. HondaJet Elite II pilots can utilize autothrottle throughout various flight stages, from takeoff through landing flare.

“The HondaJet is a design that has consistently pushed the bounds of what is possible,” said Honda Aircraft Company President and CEO Hideto Yamasaki. “We anticipate that the addition of this functionality to the HondaJet Elite II will offer customers a new way to experience the joy of flight, in accordance with Honda’s principles as a developer of mobility solutions. We are very appreciative of our customers, who have not only shared their excitement but also waited patiently for this development.”
For HondaJet Elite II owners and operators, autothrottle introduces a substantial enhancement to flight experience, especially benefiting single-pilot operators. The added automation simplifies the pilot’s tasks, allowing them to focus more on the joy of flying. For these users, autothrottle becomes a valuable productivity tool, boosting cockpit efficiency and setting a new standard in aviation convenience.
