Colombia Steps Up with Guatemala and More Wider Routes in Americas as Avianca Expands Travel.
The Colombia air transport industry is seeing an exciting era thanks to Avianca as it expands its travel offering in the Americas. The regional carrier is looking to offer more services, wider connectivity and updated passenger benefits as it goes into its network transformation. From new premium cabin improvements, Economy class upgrades, digital advances and expanded regional links, Avianca is set to deliver on more comfort and convenience options for its passengers who are looking to connect across the Latin America, Central America and United States regions.

A broader travel experience is being developed across Avianca’s network, with improvements being introduced from the airport journey to the onboard experience. The expansion highlights the growing importance of Colombia as an aviation hub while strengthening connections with destinations including Guatemala and other markets across the Americas.

Avianca Expands Business Class Access Across Americas Network

A major upgrade has been introduced with Business Class Americas now available across 100% of Avianca’s routes within the Americas. The expansion covers international services as well as domestic operations in Colombia, Ecuador and Guatemala, allowing more travellers to access premium services throughout the regional network.

The wider availability of Avianca Business Class is designed to provide a more consistent premium experience for passengers travelling within the Americas. Additional services have been introduced at airports and onboard, creating a smoother journey for business travellers, frequent flyers and leisure passengers seeking enhanced comfort.

Business Class passengers are being provided with several advantages, including priority airport services, access to Avianca and Star Alliance lounges, increased baggage allowances, LifeMiles benefits and seating located within the first three rows of aircraft.

The onboard experience is being adjusted according to flight duration, ensuring that premium passengers receive services suited to different journey lengths. The expansion also complements Avianca’s long-haul premium offering, creating a wider connection between regional travel and international routes.

Colombia Strengthens US and Latin America Travel Connections

The growth of Avianca’s Americas network is being supported by its expanding connectivity from the United States. More than 400 weekly flights and 41 routes from the US are currently being operated to destinations across South America and Central America.

Passenger demand between the United States and Latin America has continued to show strong momentum. During the first half of 2026, more than 2.57 million passengers were transported by Avianca to and from the United States, representing a 9.2% increase compared with the same period in 2025.

The increase reflects the importance of air connectivity between North America and Latin America. Through expanded routes, improved services and stronger network capacity, Colombia is becoming increasingly connected with regional tourism and business markets.

For travellers, the enhanced connectivity provides more opportunities to access destinations across the Americas through Avianca’s network, with improved travel options between major cities and regional destinations.

Economy Travel Experience Receives New Passenger Benefits

Alongside premium upgrades, improvements are also being introduced for Economy travellers through Avianca’s “Más para Todos” (More for Everyone) initiative. The programme is focused on adding more value throughout the passenger journey while increasing flexibility and convenience.

A key improvement is the inclusion of a 22-pound carry-on bag across all international fares, including flights operating to and from the United States. This change allows passengers greater flexibility when preparing for international journeys.

Additional onboard benefits are also being introduced. Food and beverages are now being offered on international flights within the Americas lasting more than 3.5 hours, while the airline’s onboard purchasing service continues to provide additional options through Café del Cielo.

These updates are aimed at improving the overall Economy travel experience by combining essential services with greater convenience. The changes also reflect the wider industry trend of airlines enhancing value-driven services for passengers across different travel categories.

Avianca Introduces More Digital Entertainment and Wi-Fi Services

Technology has become a key part of Avianca’s passenger experience strategy, with Wi-Fi connectivity being progressively introduced across the fleet.

The airline’s onboard entertainment platform, Avianca On Air, is also being expanded with a broader selection of content. Travellers are being offered access to entertainment partnerships featuring international brands and programmes, including HBO Max, Sony Entertainment, Warner Bros., A24, Paramount, Formula 1 TV and LEGO.

The expansion of digital services is designed to improve the onboard journey, particularly on longer flights where passengers increasingly expect reliable connectivity and entertainment options.

By combining improved connectivity with enhanced cabin services, Avianca is strengthening its position as an airline focused on modern passenger expectations.

New INSIGNIA by Avianca Cabin Experience Planned for 2027

A further development is being prepared through the next evolution of INSIGNIA by Avianca, the airline’s long-haul Business Class experience.

Currently available on flights connecting Colombia with European destinations including Madrid, Barcelona, London and Paris, as well as selected New York services operated with Boeing 787 aircraft, INSIGNIA is set to receive a major transformation.

From 2027, the first aircraft featuring the redesigned INSIGNIA cabin will be introduced. The upgraded cabin will include private suites with sliding doors, fully lie-flat seats with a 180-degree recline, premium sleep products and enhanced passenger amenities.

The new experience will also feature upgraded dining concepts inspired by Latin American flavours, refreshed tableware and luxury onboard products.

Passengers travelling between Bogotá and Europe will also receive enhanced amenities featuring Colombian craftsmanship and premium local brands, creating a stronger connection between the airline experience and regional culture.

Airport Facilities and Premium Services Continue Expanding

The investment in passenger experience is also being extended beyond aircraft cabins. Avianca is continuing improvements across its network of 12 VIP lounges located in Colombia, El Salvador and the United States.

The upgraded lounges are being developed with stronger focus on gastronomy, wellness, design and technology, creating more comfortable spaces for premium passengers before flights.

Additional benefits are also being introduced through Magno, the highest LifeMiles membership level. Members receive access to premium services including specialised check-in, personalised assistance, lounge access, priority boarding and selected Business Class upgrades.

These airport improvements are designed to create a seamless travel journey from arrival at the airport until reaching the final destination.

Avianca’s Expansion Supports Future Americas Tourism Growth

The continued expansion of Avianca’s travel network reflects the growing demand for improved connectivity across the Americas. With stronger links between Colombia, Guatemala, the United States and wider Latin American destinations, the airline is supporting both tourism and business travel growth.

Through expanded Business Class availability, enhanced Economy benefits, upgraded digital services and future premium cabin developments, Avianca is creating a more complete travel experience for passengers.
