In a dispute over pay and conditions the UFO union has called a 48-hour strike for Thursday 7 and Friday 8 November. It is expected that the walkout could wreck the travel plans of those heading to Germany for the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall.

In favour of indefinite industrial action last week cabin crew voted and it was mentioned in the website that Lufthansa flights both domestic and international could be affected.

UFO’s massive strike appeal is being strongly condemned by Lufthansa and is considering legal action to prevent the strike.

All the affected passengers were apologized for the inconvenience.  Currently they were working a full speed on a special flight schedule for Thursday and Friday.

In Frankfurt and Munich, Lufthansa has a complex hub-and-spoke operation and the stoppage could affect Lufthansa’s subsidiaries Eurowings and SunExpress.

In October a previous strike was called off before it was due to start.

After accusation that board members had been involved in embezzlement the UFO union is in itself in some disarray.

Passengers will be entitled to alternative flights which will be close to their original timings as possible on any airline that has seats available as per the European air passengers’ rights rules.

Until the travellers reach the destination, Travellers will be entitled to meals and if required accommodation.

Claim-handling companies say they will be entitled to cash compensation although there has been no definitive ruling in the European Court of Justice over official strikes.
