Lufthansa cabin staff announced they had finalized a wage agreement for 19,000 flight attendants, concluding months of negotiations and a strike that disrupted travel for thousands of passengers.

The deal with the cabin union UFO secures a 16.5% wage increase, to be implemented in three stages over 36 months beginning retroactively in January, along with a one-time 3,000-euro compensation for inflation.

Negotiations, which started last November, initially saw UFO demanding a 15% wage increase over 18 months, a 3,000-euro one-time inflation adjustment, and enhanced bonuses.

Approximately 20,000 UFO members at Lufthansa and its subsidiary CityLine went on a day-long strike last month, leading to the cancellation of around 1,000 flights and impacting 120,000 passengers.

While an agreement has been reached for the main Lufthansa staff, negotiations continue for workers at subsidiaries CityLine and Discover Airlines, with expectations of reaching a resolution soon.

In a related development, the Verdi union recently secured a pay rise for Lufthansa ground staff, finalizing a deal to prevent further strikes during the upcoming busy Easter travel period.
