Bread, a staple in German cuisine, enjoys a rich heritage with over 3,000 varieties in Germany alone, recognized by UNESCO as Intangible Cultural Heritage. Now, Business Class travelers on long-haul flights from Germany will relish unique breads crafted exclusively for Lufthansa by Axel Schmitt, baker-sommelier and World Baker of the Year 2022. These artisanal breads, fresh from the oven daily and free from additives, are paired with handmade butter and premium olive oil as an appetizer, with new varieties introduced quarterly.

Additionally, Lufthansa is introducing more innovations in Business Class on long-haul flights. The new signature Avionic aperitif, an alternative to water and sparkling wine, will be offered with nuts as a welcome drink pre-takeoff. Crafted by the Ziegler distillery and Sven Riebel, a renowned bar figure from Frankfurt, the Avionic features peach and wild meadow herb flavors, served over ice with tonic.

For the first time, Business Class passengers will enjoy a vegetarian amuse-bouche ranging from antipasti to sushi, setting the stage for the meal service. The dessert selection is expanding to include fresh fruit, and for lighter fare, a new modular snack option adapts to flight duration and time, featuring items like tomato and mozzarella skewers or pastrami wraps. Starting in June, every passenger will receive a small box of Lindt chocolates in an exclusive Lufthansa design as a parting gift, ensuring a memorable service experience from welcome to farewell.

Board, take off, relax: Lufthansa is constantly developing its product range in all classes in order to provide passengers with a pleasant journey. In Business Class on long-haul flights, new highlights are now being added to the culinary offering. Heiko Reitz, Chief Commercial Officer Lufthansa Airlines, explains: “The entire Lufthansa team is proud to present our new Business Class experience. Our culinary highlights, the celebration of German bread culture and the collaboration with traditional brands such as Ziegler for the new Lufthansa Aperitif Avionic underline the timeless elegance of our brand. The other new products that we will soon be introducing in various travel classes are further steps towards our goal of creating a whole new level of excitement for our guests.”
