Hyatt Hotels Corporation (NYSE: H) has marked its foray into the upper-midscale lodging segment in the Americas with the commencement of construction for the inaugural Hyatt Studios property. The first of its kind, Hyatt Studios Mobile/Tillman’s Corner/West I10, is set to open its doors in Mobile, Alabama, early in 2025. Hyatt has inked a franchise agreement with 3H Group Inc. for this milestone project, positioning the Hyatt Studios brand as a pivotal growth catalyst, capitalizing on Hyatt’s remarkable six-year track record of leading net rooms growth.

Dan Hansen, the global head of Hyatt Studios, expressed pride in reaching this construction milestone, emphasizing the transformative nature of the Hyatt Studios brand in the upper-midscale, extended-stay sector. Hansen highlighted the brand’s commitment to delivering exceptional value, top-notch amenities, and the highest standard of care, backed by continued interest from the development community, affirming the brand’s compelling value proposition.

Situated in Tillman’s Corner just outside Mobile, the planned Hyatt Studios hotel will offer easy access to the Gulf Coast, located a mere 10 miles from Mobile International Airport. The strategic location also provides proximity to historical and cultural attractions such as the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park, GulfQuest National Maritime Museum of the Gulf of Mexico, and the Mobile Carnival Museum. In addition to attracting tourists, Mobile’s diverse industries in manufacturing, aerospace, and commercial retail contribute to the midscale appeal of the area. The construction of Hyatt Studios Mobile/Tillman’s Corner/West I10 is expected to generate numerous local jobs and enhance Mobile’s hospitality industry.

Hiren Desai, President and CEO of 3H Group, Inc., shared the decision to extend collaboration with Hyatt, citing the team’s unwavering commitment to understanding the needs of guests, owners, and developers. Desai expressed excitement about the joint venture with Hyatt to open the first Hyatt Studios hotel, with future plans to add another to their portfolio.

Since the announcement of the Hyatt Studios brand in April, the brand’s growing pipeline is evident with a new deal for a Hyatt Studios hotel in Portland, Maine. The hotel, set to open in 2025, is part of Hyatt’s first franchise agreement with Giri Hotel Management. This 122-room Hyatt Studios hotel at Portland International Jetport (PWM) aligns with the brand’s focus on evolving guest demographics, offering home comforts with the flexibility, amenities, and quality synonymous with the Hyatt name.

The Hyatt Studios brand, joining the likes of Hyatt Place, Hyatt House, and Caption by Hyatt, falls under Hyatt’s select service category, enriching the guest experiences within the World of Hyatt loyalty program. Characterized by contemporary style and high quality, Hyatt Studios hotels will feature rooms resembling studio apartments, providing dedicated spaces for work, relaxation, or dining.

In catering to both extended-stay and transient demand, each Hyatt Studios hotel will boast innovative self-service amenities for a seamless guest experience. Additionally, the hotels will house a best-in-class, 24-hour market offering a diverse range of options, from health-conscious snacks to ready-made meals. Notably, in-room kitchens will be equipped with a full-sized refrigerator with freezer, dishwasher, and a combination convection oven/microwave, further enhancing the guest experience.
