The latest arrivals figure means Việt Nam has already achieved more than 63 per cent of its annual tourism target, creating strong momentum as the country approaches the traditional peak travel season.

Asia continued to dominate Việt Nam’s international tourism landscape during the first eight months of 2026. The region contributed approximately 11.81 million visitors, accounting for nearly 74 per cent of total international arrivals.
Asian arrivals increased by around 7.4 per cent year on year, confirming the region’s importance as the backbone of Việt Nam’s tourism industry.
China remained the largest individual source market, contributing approximately 3.54 million visitors during the period. Chinese travellers represented around 22.3 per cent of all international arrivals to Việt Nam.
South Korea ranked second, generating approximately 2.76 million visitors, equivalent to 17.3 per cent of total arrivals.

While Asian markets continue to provide the largest visitor numbers, Europe has emerged as one of the fastest-growing regions for Việt Nam’s tourism sector.
European arrivals reached approximately 2.68 million visitors during January–August 2026, representing a remarkable 53.4 per cent increase compared with the previous year.
The sharp rise demonstrates growing interest among European travellers in Việt Nam’s diverse tourism offerings, including UNESCO heritage destinations, luxury resorts, culinary experiences, adventure travel, and cultural journeys.
The Americas also recorded strong growth, with visitor numbers increasing 20.7 per cent to around 887,000 arrivals.

Several European countries recorded significant growth in arrivals to Việt Nam during the first eight months of 2026.
Visitor numbers from Poland increased by 51.2 per cent, showing one of the strongest performances among European markets. The Czech Republic also recorded major growth, rising 28.2 per cent, while Switzerland increased by 27 per cent.
Sweden saw arrivals climb 25.1 per cent, while Germany recorded a 15.1 per cent increase. France grew by 13.4 per cent, and the United Kingdom increased by 9.8 per cent.

One of the biggest developments in Việt Nam’s tourism growth story has been the dramatic recovery of the Russian market.
Russia became the country’s third-largest source market, following China and South Korea, with more than 1 million Russian visitors recorded during the first eight months of 2026.
Russian arrivals reached 265.7 per cent of the level recorded during the same period in 2025, representing a massive 165.7 per cent year-on-year increase.
The recovery has been supported by expanded charter flight connections between Russian cities and Việt Nam’s popular coastal destinations.

During the first eight months of 2026, Việt Nam welcomed more than 612,000 Indian visitors, a major increase compared with approximately 102,000 arrivals in 2019.
The growth has been supported by improved aviation connectivity between the two countries, including direct routes linking Indian cities such as New Delhi, Mumbai, and Ahmedabad with Vietnamese destinations including Hà Nội, Đà Nẵng, and Ho Chi Minh City.
