IHG Hotels & Resorts, a global leader in hospitality, announces the addition of nine hotels in Portugal, expanding its portfolio by 976 rooms. This move supports Portugal’s robust growth in the industry. The new signings include luxury and lifestyle brands such as Kimpton Lisbon, Hotel Indigo Albufeira, and Hotel Indigo Faro, alongside six new additions to the Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express brands, including suite offerings.

Two thirds of the 976 rooms announced today are part of our Holiday Inn brand family, confirming the confidence owners continue to have in our powerhouse brands.

Portugal remains a key priority for IHG Hotels & Resorts, which has seen remarkable growth in recent years, including the launch of Vignette Collection Casa da Companhia and Vignette Collection Lisbon Convent Square, along with the upcoming Kimpton Algarve São Rafael Atlántico, set to open in 2025.

Essentials Collection Signings

1. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Lisbon – Amoreiras: Owned by Real Hotels Group, this 192-room converted hotel will open in early 2025. Located in Lisbon’s financial district, it’s ideal for both leisure and business guests, offering easy access to major city attractions.
2. Holiday Inn Express & Suites Portimão: Owned by Harland & Poston Group, this 60-room hotel is set to open in the first half of 2025. Situated in the Algarve, it will be close to the marina and beaches, making it perfect for tourists.
3. Holiday Inn Express Porto – Boavista: With 91 rooms, this hotel will open in the second half of 2024 in Porto’s Boavista neighborhood, near the city center, airport, and tourist spots.
4. Holiday Inn Express Évora: Opening in the second half of 2024, this 76-room hotel is a historic building conversion, ideally located for business and leisure travelers in Évora.

Additionally, two Holiday Inn properties are signed:

1. Holiday Inn Braga: This 114-room hotel, owned by Soliteight Hotel Projects SA, will open in the second half of 2024, offering proximity to Braga’s religious sites and summer festivals.
2. Holiday Inn Beja: Owned by Mercan Properties, this 95-room hotel will open in late 2024 within Beja Castle’s medieval walls, connecting Lisbon to Sevilla and Huelva, making it a prime location for tourists and history enthusiasts.

Luxury & Lifestyle Collection Signings

1. Kimpton Lisbon: This 141-room hotel, set to open in early 2026, will be the first Kimpton property in Lisbon. It will feature high-quality design, restaurants, and bars, benefiting from its proximity to Eduardo VII Park, Marquês de Pombal Square, and Avenida Liberdade.
2. Hotel Indigo Albufeira: Scheduled to open in mid-2025, this 80-room hotel will offer a rooftop pool and bar, restaurant, and stylish bar, located in the vibrant Albufeira neighborhood.
3. Hotel Indigo Faro: Opening in late 2026, this 127-room hotel will feature a rooftop with views of the marina and lagoon, located in central Faro.

IHG currently operates 20 hotels in Portugal across seven brands and has a pipeline of 15 more hotels as of March 31, 2024.
