Along with the thriving tourist numbers to the Kingdom, a major rise in domestic tourism was also followed, according to a stakeholder.
The secretary general at the Ministry of Tourism, Hisham Shakhatreh, said that till now, the figures appear quite promising and the Urdun Jannah program of the ministry has done well in rising domestic tourist numbers.
Since the beginning of this year, the program has lured more than 35,000 tourists, Shakhatreh informed The Jordan Times.
This increase is underpinned by a variety of trip programs provided to the locals with new routes to be added in a little while, he said.
The trip programs for 2023, as per the Urdun Jannah website, include the Golden Triangle, Amman, Irbid, Ajloun, Zarqa, Mafraq, the Dead Sea, Jerash, Balqa and few others.
In 2019, the Urdun Jannah program was introduced by the Ministry of Tourism, together with the Jordan Tourism Board. The main aim was to encourage and promote domestic tourism along with local experiences.
