Investment required for Jordan tourism

In spite of the record breaking revenue in tourism and huge growth predictions, economist and experts of the sector are requesting the public and private sectors of Jordan to increase investments in tourism.

When it comes to tourism, Jordan is a country rich with several tourist sites, providing attractions like Wadi Rum, Petra, the Dead Sea, the Baptism Site, and many such places that are exclusive and found nowhere. Besides, wide product offerings, the variety in tourism gives the Jordan a competitive edge over other adjoining countries. Many people visit the Kingdom to take the benefit of the plentiful medical tourism of Jordan along with spiritual tourism and pilgrimage. Also, adventure tourism and cultural tourism opportunities are equally great.

Though, the economists consider that Jordan should not discontinue here in anyway; they have a long way to go. As per the experts, the path to sustained success starts with a shift in mentality towards handling tourism with a private business mentality.

Makhamreh informed The Jordan Times that still the tourism sector remains hugely underutilized; they need to develop their offerings and fight with adjacent nations. The Kingdom needs to unlock all opportunities, make foreign investments seamless and improve infrastructure, he added.

Khaled Omar Salameh, the Economist, told The Jordan Times, that for Jordanians, the boom provides a golden chance to spend in the tourism sector.
