Bengaluru-Mumbai Rail Connectivity Gets Major Boost with New Bi-Weekly Express Service

The Ministry of Railways has introduced a new bi-weekly express train connecting Bengaluru and Mumbai, marking a significant enhancement in rail travel between Karnataka and Maharashtra. The inaugural service was flagged off virtually by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw on Sunday. The event in Bengaluru was attended by Union Minister of State for Railways V Somanna and Bengaluru Central MP PC Mohan, reflecting the importance of this route in connecting two major economic hubs of India.

This newly launched service is only the second direct train linking Bengaluru and Mumbai, alongside the Udyan Express, which has been operational for nearly three decades. Railway officials highlighted that this new connection is expected to significantly reduce travel challenges on one of the busiest passenger corridors in the country. It will also improve accessibility for passengers traveling not only to Bengaluru and Mumbai, but also to key towns along the route, including the Hubballi-Dharwad belt, Belagavi, and Pune. Authorities also revealed plans for a faster overnight Vande Bharat sleeper train on this corridor in the near future, further strengthening connectivity between the two states.
