J&K tourism makes plans for festivals and activities

In order to attract tourists in Jammu and Kashmir, the J&K tourism department has planned various activities, including dedicated trekking expeditions and destination festivals.

Various roadshows have been held across major cities of India to encourage tourism-related activities, events and destinations in Jammu and Kashmir.

A part of AzadiKaAmritMahotsav, the tourism department will be holding an iconic week celebration in the last week of October this year. The event was chaired by the Chief Secretary, Mr. AK Mehta.

This event will observe performances on Kalam-e-Khusro, Hafiz Nagma, Kalam-e-Baba Fareed, Baul Sufi folk, Qawwali, HaziriKathak and Dervish Sufi dance, along with literary seminar on Sufism, and exhibition on calligraphy, local arts, and Sufi traditions.

The tourism department preparing to promote destination festivals like Pahalgam Winter Festival, Sonamarg Autumn Festival, Gulmarg Snow Festival, Khadinyar Cultural Festival, Basohli Art Festival, Mata VaishnodeviSangeetSammelan, Kishtwar Saffron Plucking Festival and much more.

Also, to promote tourismin the region, autumn and houseboat festivals, Winter Carnival and much more will be held.

Rural tourism will also be promoted.The department said that specific activities will be held across the rural circuits of Jammu and Kashmir, including NowgamMawar-Lolab in Kupwara, Hokersar-Parihaspora-Gohan in Gulmarg, SaderkootPayeen- Watlab in Bandipora and Chari-Sharief-Doodhpathri-Yousmarg in Budgam.
