With the gradual drop in Covid-19 cases in Kashmir, the tourism department has once again reopened the doors for the tourists to visit the Valley.

Commissioner Secretary Tourism Sarmad Hafeez said that there are no restrictions for the travelers to visit the Valley; however, the current SOPs and guidelines need to be respected by everyone.

“There are no restrictions on any tourists wishing to travel to the valley. However, there are already Covid guidelines and SOPs in place which everyone has to follow,” Hafeez said.

Hafeez said that since the situation is changing, the government is monitoring the situation closely, and taking appropriate measures.

Hafeez said that the inoculation drive for the stakeholders brought a positive response, and around 85 per cent of the people associated with the tourism industry have been vaccinated. The department is making sure that every stakeholder associated with the tourism industry or with direct interface with the tourists is vaccinated.

The tourism department has organized several review meetings in the last few weeks, where adherence to Covid SOPs and vaccination was prioritized. The department also discussed the measures for improving the services in the tourism sector.
