Megaworld is beginning a new phase of hospitality growth in the Philippines with plans to increase its hotel room inventory to more than 12,000 rooms by 2032. It has a number of hotels currently under construction in popular travel and business destinations, including Palawan and Ilocos Norte. Megaworld hopes to capture the growing demand in the travel and accommodations sector of the Philippines.
The expansion programme will combine Megaworld’s existing hotel brands with partnerships involving international hospitality operators. Through this approach, the company aims to increase accommodation capacity, support tourism development in emerging destinations and create a stronger hospitality ecosystem across the Philippines.

Megaworld’s latest growth plan represents a significant increase in its long-term investment in the Philippine hotel industry. The company is focusing on destinations with strong tourism potential, rising visitor demand and growing business activity.
Over the next five to seven years, new hotel projects are expected to be developed in strategic locations, including the island destination of Palawan and the northern province of Ilocos Norte. These areas have continued to gain attention from domestic and international travellers due to their natural attractions, cultural experiences and expanding tourism infrastructure.

The expansion will allow Megaworld to move beyond its existing hospitality footprint and establish a wider network of hotels serving different traveller segments. The company’s future portfolio will include properties under its own brands as well as hotels operated in collaboration with recognised global hospitality names.
To support its ambitious expansion plans, Megaworld has created Megaworld Global Hotels and Resorts (MGHR), a dedicated structure designed to oversee its growing hotel operations.
The new organisation will divide responsibilities between two specialised hospitality groups. Megaworld Hotels & Resorts (MHR) will focus on properties located in major Philippine destinations such as Metro Manila, Boracay, Batangas and Cebu.
Megaworld Global Hospitality (MGH) will manage internationally aligned projects and selected premium properties. Its responsibilities will include Mövenpick Manila Bay Westside and upcoming developments in Palawan.
The group will also continue overseeing three hotels in Iloilo, including Courtyard by Marriott, Richmonde Hotel Iloilo and Belmont Hotel Iloilo. This structure is designed to improve operational efficiency while supporting future expansion across different tourism markets.
Megaworld’s hospitality expansion is closely linked with the wider growth of Philippine tourism. Increasing hotel capacity in both established and emerging destinations is expected to support visitor growth and strengthen local economies.
New hotel developments can generate employment opportunities, encourage investment in surrounding areas and create additional demand for tourism-related services, including restaurants, attractions, transportation and retail businesses.
By expanding into destinations outside major urban centres, Megaworld aims to contribute to the development of regional tourism hubs. The company’s strategy reflects the growing importance of spreading tourism activity across different areas of the Philippines.
The combination of local expertise and international hospitality standards is expected to help attract more overseas travellers while also meeting the needs of domestic tourists and business visitors.
Megaworld has appointed experienced hospitality executives to lead its expanded operations as the company prepares for its next stage of development.
Socrates Alvaro has taken the role of Managing Director of Megaworld Hotels & Resorts. His hospitality career includes senior leadership responsibilities within Megaworld and international exposure across markets such as the United Kingdom, United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Maldives and Thailand.
Anna Vergara has been named Managing Director of Megaworld Global Hospitality. She brings more than 32 years of experience from Marriott International, covering hotel operations, international brand management and hospitality leadership.
The new leadership structure combines regional market understanding with global hospitality experience, creating a foundation for managing a significantly larger hotel portfolio in the coming years.
Megaworld’s hospitality division has become one of the company’s strongest recurring income segments, recording significant growth during the first half of 2026.
Hospitality revenues reached PHP 3.1 billion, representing an 11% increase compared with the previous period. The growth was supported by stronger operations and the addition of new hotel inventory.
One of the key contributors was the opening of Belmont Hotel Iloilo, a 405-room property located inside Megaworld’s 72-hectare Iloilo Business Park development. The hotel has become the largest hotel in Iloilo City based on available rooms.
With the addition of Belmont Hotel Iloilo, Megaworld’s total hotel inventory in Iloilo has grown to nearly 1,000 rooms, strengthening the city’s position as a business and tourism destination.
The company’s target of reaching nearly 12,000 hotel rooms by 2032 highlights its long-term commitment to the Philippine tourism sector. The expansion reflects confidence in continued demand for accommodation driven by leisure travel, business activity and destination development.
With new projects planned in high-potential tourism locations, stronger international partnerships and a dedicated hospitality management structure, Megaworld is positioning hotels as a major driver of future growth.
The company’s expanded hospitality network is expected to play a key role in supporting the Philippines’ tourism ambitions while creating new opportunities for travellers, communities and local economies.
