Karnataka CM prioritizes development of Banavasi

Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai stated that by embarking on the complete growth of the historic Banavasi, yatra and historic tourism will be prioritized.

Following the inauguration of ‘Kadambotsava-2023’ in Banavasi, the first capital of the Kannada Kingdom, Bommai said that a range of expansion works have happened in Mundgod and Banavasi regions. The infrastructure ventures have commenced in Karnataka during the last three and a half years. To handle the lack of drinking water, 62 tanks are filled from the Banavasi Lift Irrigation arrangement.

He also said that the funds have been reserved in the budget for a plan to initiate the great empires that ruled Karnataka like Kadamba, Hoysala, Chalukya and Rashtrakoota.

Bommai said that funds will be given to develop a special passage comprising all the ancient historic temples from those periods. Special focus is being given toward advancement of Annigeri, which is the birthplace of Adi Kavi Pampa.

The CM said that the history of Karnataka remains unfinished without the Kadambas as they fought against the rule of the unknowns. King Mayura Varma created the Kadamba kingdom, making Banavasi the capital.

The CM added that this place is well-known as the first capital of Kannada Naadu. The Kannada versifier, Pampa penned the preface for the Kannada writings in Banavasi. The Madhukeshwara Temple displays the architectural wonder and the sculpture.
