Kerala signed a contract with UN Women, for promoting women-friendly doings in Kerala’s tourism sector by providing training to stakeholders comprising young officials and civil organizations.

A MoU was inked by P.B. Nooh, Kerala Tourism Director and Susan Ferguson, UN Women India representative. Both parties consented to work toward boosting gender-inclusive tourism destinations in Kerala. The Responsible Tourism Mission will be the executing agency for this agreement.

According to the agreement signed at this first time Global Responsible Tourism Summit in Kumarakom, both sides will be boosting women-responsive tourism in Kerala. This will be attained by making modules and capacity creation of pertinent stakeholders, along with giving advisory backing for baseline study, catering to women-friendly tourist spots and backing involvements for altering predominant biased social customs.

The global body will assist Kerala Tourism toward advancing reports and material connected to women-responsive tourism and their publication. The agreement will look forward to create collaborations with other leading programmes of Kerala and help in correcting social approaches that are restricting gender-inclusive public spaces in the segment of tourism.

Kerala Tourism Minister P.A. Mohamed Riyas said that the MoU is an extension of Kerala government’s reintroduced energies toward women-friendly tourism since October last year.
