Kongthong in Meghalaya wins ‘Best Tourism Village (Bronze) award

Kongthong, a charming village snuggled in the East Khasi Hills of Meghalaya, has been felicitated with the respected ‘Best Tourism Village (Bronze)’ accolade at the National Tourism Awards 2023 by the tourism Ministry, Government of India. 

This acknowledgment was conferred to Kongthong by the Indian Government, at an impressive event held at Bharat Mandapam at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. Quite a number of dignitaries were present at the event.

Conrad K. Sangma, the Chief Minister of Meghalaya said regarding this achievement that he is massively
gratified. This acknowledgment is an evidence of the rich traditional inheritance and natural loveliness that Meghalaya offers. He said that Kongthong’s musical whistles reverberate the synchronization of their
miscellaneous ethnicities and the tranquillity of their sceneries.

CM Sangma said that the tourism segment is the second-largest work creator for Meghalaya, and their
aim is to change Meghalaya into the most favored tourist destination in India.
