Lake District to host Global Tourism Conference

Lake DistrictTourism conference named ‘Journey To’, is attracting together all the leading industry figures across the globe to discover the rising trends in travel, the first-of-its-kind to be organized in Cumbria.

 
This year, on the 19th April, hoteliers, tourist attractions, along with tour operators and marketers will move down on the Lake District to listen to all the renowned experts of travel sector as they provide an insight in terms of the current status and the prospect of international visitors going to the UK.

 
By now, many leading business figures have already received confirmation to take to the stage, comprising Simon Calder, the BBC travel expert, Trip Advisor’s head of destinations for EMEA Justin Reid, and Jennifer Cormack, sales and marketing director at Windermere Lake Cruises.

 
With Lake District receiving the current tourism spotlight, visitors are more interested to explore the latest World Heritage Site in the UK, and businesses set to make the most of the opportunities from a boost in visitor numbers. This conference is expected to offer the attendees the chance to get familiar with the north-west destination for them.

 
Journey To host, and Kendal-based digital marketing agency, A Digital set about building the format of this event after the success they have seen by now, their client list, achieve following the increasing volume in terms of inbound travel to the UK, and specifically Cumbria.

 
A Digital director, Andrew Armitage said: “Global-interest travel events like Journey To are typically hosted in London and we felt that the Lake District, as a leading attraction for international visitors, should be home to a conference of this scale.”
