Lakshadweep Island

The serenity and unsullied hue swarmed across the place doesn’t bear the slightest bit of taint, where the edges of shorelines, sporadically splattered by turquoise waters, are smothered in virgin sand. One can peer at the enigmaesque horizon that gleams harmoniously into the bosom of the sea. There are a dozen isles that are strewn into the Lakshadweep archipelago, which encircles all of this and more. When budget constraints surface like a bummer while planning an itinerary to the Maldives. One shouldn’t refrain from diving into the details of Lakshadweep. What to anticipate from each of them is as follows:

Karavatti Island

Exploring the Kavaratti Island

This is also the administrative capital that sits in the smallest union territory in India. There are wooden pillars that are carved with finesse, and the panache with which the roofs of the mosques are built is amazing. The Jamnath as well as the Ujra mosques in Lakshadweep should be visited for their architectural extravagance. Amidst the coral visits and water sports, the place bristles with an enlivening, serene melody.

Kadmat

Waltz across Kadmat Island

The breathtaking panorama that awaits one as soon as one arrives on this picturesque island marries the vivid hues of coral reefs with the lush foliage of coconut palms. Famous for its untouched beauty, Kadmat Island in Lakshadweep is a sanctuary for ecotourism and sustainable travel. Kadmat Island’s stunning coastlines are one of its primary attractions. Inviting people to unwind beneath the warm tropical sun or take leisurely strolls along the shoreline, the powdery white sand runs along its coastline. Snorkeling, swimming, and other water sports are possible due to the Arabian Sea’s tranquility and soft waves.

Kalpeni

Exploring the lagoon

Kalpeni has shallow lagoons that are ideal for scuba diving and other water sports, and it is home to the biggest waterway among the Lakshadweep islands. The eastern and southeast coastlines of this island are a necessity for anyone who is intrigued by coral debris. Kalpeni is the closest mainland to the idyllic islands of Tilakkam, Pitti, and the virgin, mostly deserted Cheriyam. The stunning lagoon on Cheriyam is especially enticing for shutterbugs. With bath houses and locker rooms easily accessible on the beach, Koomel Beach is a popular destination for water sports. Additionally, getting a rental boat is relatively simple.

The archipelago was endowed with the designation of Union Territory in 1956. Lakshadweep, if it gets translated, literally means a hundred thousand islands. Twelve atolls in addition to three coral reefs constitute the entirety of islands, despite the translation. Of these islands, only ten are inhabited.

It is easy to reach Lakshadweep from Kochi, Kerala. In terms of budget, the archipelago can incur costs that are way cheaper than the Maldives. Brimming with beautiful vistas and almost akin to the Maldives, one can definitely opt for Lakshadweep in place of the Maldives.

Other than that, there are seven passenger ships—MV Minicoy, MV Kavaratti, MV Amindivi, MV Corals, MV Lakshadweep Sea, MV Lagoon, and MV Arabian Sea. They are all operational between Lakshadweep and Kochi. The trip takes between 14 and 18 hours, depending on where you end up.
