In collaboration with ProColombia, the Latin American Travel Association (LATA) conducted its inaugural travel agent training as part of its engagement strategy. The successful event welcomed 49 agents, providing them with interactive training to enhance their knowledge of Colombia’s tourism offerings and effective selling strategies for their clients.

The event featured three live streaming segments directly from Colombia, highlighting different facets of its tourism offerings and immersing attendees in the destination. Agents gained insights into Bogotá, the capital; Eje Cafetero, the primary coffee-growing region; and Sofitel Legend, a luxurious five-star resort in the picturesque city of Cartagena on Colombia’s Caribbean coast.

LATA brought together experts from the UK and abroad to provide comprehensive training for agents. Representatives from ProColombia, Colombian Journeys, Colombia 57, Latin Routes, and Journey Latin America shared their wealth of experience and expertise in promoting Colombia to the UK consumer.

The Colombia travel agent training marked the initiation of a series of events under LATA’s travel agent engagement strategy, expanding upon the success of the LATA OTT Academy. In continuation, LATA intends to conduct a series of roadshows in 2021 in collaboration with various Latin American destinations.

LATA Expo 2021

Building on the success of LATA Expo Virtual 2020, LATA has revealed plans for LATA Expo 2021, incorporating additional elements for travel agents. Scheduled to be held at Battersea Evolution in the heart of London, this event will play a pivotal role in revitalizing the Latin American tourism industry, serving as the first in-person opportunity for exhibitors and buyers to connect since the onset of the pandemic. Exhibitor registration for LATA Expo 2021 is now open.

LATA Chairman, Colin Stewart, expressed delight at hosting the initial event in a series aimed at engaging the UK travel trade with Latin American destinations. He hopes that upcoming travel agent trainings will replicate the success of the inaugural one, conducted in collaboration with ProColombia.

Stewart also said, “It’s also important for us to develop ways to incorporate agents into our flagship event building on our travel agent engagement strategy. We’re very excited to be working with an excellent venue in Battersea Evolution and we’re confident that it gives us the opportunity to build on the successes of previous LATA Expo/Experience Latin America events.”
