London Luton Airport

London Luton Airport (LLA) anticipates hosting over 500,000 passengers during the February half-term break, capitalizing on a robust beginning to the year with over a million passengers traversing the airport in January.

Popular European destinations such as Amsterdam, Barcelona, Lisbon, and Paris remain highly sought-after for half-term getaways. Additionally, Cairo’s Giza Sphinx International Airport, a recent inclusion in LLA’s departure schedule, is attracting travelers seeking warmer climates to escape the winter blues. Destinations like Antalya, Marrakech, and Sharm El Sheikh are also experiencing high demand. Meanwhile, winter sports enthusiasts are flocking to Geneva and Salzburg for their skiing adventures this season.

LLA’s commitment to enhancing the terminal experience ensures that passengers have a plethora of shops and restaurants to explore. Recent additions include Yo!, a conveyor belt sushi specialist, and the No1 Lounge, an elegant executive lounge option. Furthermore, visitors can look forward to a revamped Pret a Manger opening landside, as well as the inauguration of a dedicated LEGO store scheduled for March.

Clare Armstrong, Head of Guest Experience at London Luton Airport, commented: “The February half-term getaway is always an exciting time at London Luton Airport. For many people, it’s the first opportunity of the year to head for some sunshine, hit the slopes, or visit family and friends.

“Our latest research** reveals that travel habits are becoming bigger, bolder and braver. We are seeing a steep rise in demand for ‘destination dupes’ with passengers abandoning expensive long-haul destinations for cheaper, more accessible alternative locations such as Albania, which has been dubbed the ‘Maldives of Europe’. The frequency of daily flights is also fuelling demand from day-trippers looking for hassle-free 24-hour city breaks in places such as Malaga, Paris and Dublin.

“Regardless of the reasons for travel, we will be working hard to deliver a simple, friendly passenger experience to everyone heading off from LLA this half-term. We now have over 50 shops and restaurants for passengers to enjoy and the good news is that there are more to come, meaning even greater choice for everyone who passes through the terminal this year.”

For travelers heading to and from LLA, there are options for short, mid, and long-term parking, alongside public transportation choices such as the Luton Airport Express. This specialized rail service enables passengers to journey from central London to the LLA terminal in approximately 30 minutes.
