Brunei is getting prepared to launch a tourist boom. The nations Southeast Asia goal is to receive 1 million international visitors and make 630 million dollars (around 493 million usd) at the Visite Brunei year 2027.

The ambitious target reflects Brunei’s growing focus on tourism as a key contributor to economic diversification. Known for its wealth, pristine rainforests, Islamic heritage, luxury experiences and untouched natural attractions, Brunei is seeking to strengthen its position as a high-value destination within Southeast Asia.

The country’s tourism sector has already shown steady recovery and growth momentum. During the first six months of 2026, Brunei recorded around 400,000 tourist arrivals, representing a 7.8% increase compared with the same period in 2025. The latest figures indicate rising international interest in the country’s unique tourism offerings and improving connectivity.

One of the strongest areas of growth has come from maritime tourism. Sea-based arrivals increased by nearly 70% during the first half of 2026, highlighting the expanding role of cruise tourism in bringing more visitors to Brunei. The growth reflects the country’s efforts to attract travellers seeking cultural experiences, nature-based adventures and premium tourism products.

Brunei’s tourism development strategy is being shaped around long-term economic goals outlined in the Brunei Economic Blueprint and the Brunei Tourism Industry Roadmap 2024–2035. Rather than focusing only on visitor numbers, Brunei is prioritising quality tourism growth by attracting travellers who stay longer, spend more and engage with locally produced goods, services and experiences. The strategy places greater importance on developing premium travel experiences, strengthening local businesses and encouraging visitors to explore Brunei’s cultural, environmental and lifestyle attractions. Visit Brunei Year 2027 is expected to become a major milestone for the country’s tourism industry. The year-long campaign will coincide with the Diamond Jubilee celebration marking the 60th anniversary of the accession of His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah to the throne.
