Minor Hotels, the corporate entity overseeing the esteemed luxury hotel brands Anantara, Tivoli, and Elewana Collection, is delighted to announce an exciting addition to the Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas portfolio in Vienna, Austria. As part of the group’s strategic expansion across Europe, the Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel is set to debut in March 2024.

Nestled in the heart of Vienna on the renowned Schottenring, a section of the city’s Ring Boulevard, the hotel is housed in a listed palace erected in 1873 by Theophil Hansen for the Vienna World’s Exhibition. Having served various municipal and cultural functions over the years, the historic 150-year-old building was transformed into a luxury hotel in 2013, presently operating as Palais Hansen Kempinski. The location is rich with proximity to Vienna’s cultural and artistic attractions, and a nearby U-bahn station provides convenient access to the rest of the city.

Scheduled for launch under the Anantara banner in March of the coming year, the rebranded property will offer 152 classically adorned guest rooms and suites across three floors. Noteworthy is the 2,906 sq. ft. Presidential Suite, the largest of its kind in the Austrian capital. Culinary offerings will include a Michelin-starred restaurant, regional cuisine at the Wintergarten, an elegant Lobby Lounge & Bar, and a Cigar Lounge. The hotel’s appeal extends to its ten function rooms on the ground floor and mezzanine level, making it a sought-after venue for meetings and events. The ballroom, capable of accommodating up to 265 people, will host gala dinners, weddings, and conferences. Leisure facilities encompass an indoor swimming pool, fitness center, and spa.

Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel is poised for a significant renovation, during which the full suite of Anantara hallmarks and experiences will be introduced. Commencing later in 2024 and extending throughout 2025, the refurbishment will encompass guest rooms and suites, the lobby, meeting spaces, restaurants, and bars. Furthermore, the existing spa will undergo enhancement and relaunch as an Anantara Spa, blending European and Asian wellness traditions.

Dillip Rajakarier, CEO of Minor Hotels, expressed excitement about introducing the Anantara brand to Vienna, citing the city’s status as the cultural center of Austria and a global capital of music. He anticipates that Anantara Palais Hansen Vienna Hotel will provide an unparalleled experience of luxury, elegance, and hospitality in the heart of one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. This development marks a significant milestone for both Minor Hotels and Anantara as they continue to broaden their presence and brand portfolio across the continent.

Vienna, renowned for its impressive architecture and UNESCO World Heritage status, seamlessly melds its rich historical charm with a vibrant modern spirit, consistently ranking among the top three most livable cities globally. The city’s avant-garde theaters, thriving music scene, and diverse cultural tapestry, from the iconic MuseumsQuartier to Michelin-starred restaurants, invite exploration of both classical heritage and contemporary allure. Vienna’s markets teem with diverse flavors, and landmarks like St. Stephen’s Cathedral and Schönbrunn Palace affirm its status as a top-tier tourism destination. In this symphony of old-world elegance and modern vibrancy, Vienna unfolds as a captivating destination where history and innovation harmoniously coexist.

Anantara made its European debut in 2017 with the launch of Anantara Vilamoura Algarve Resort in Portugal, followed by Anantara Villa Padierna Palace Resort in Marbella, southern Spain. The brand continued its expansion with the addition of Anantara Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky Amsterdam and two palace hotels in Italy and Hungary – Anantara Palazzo Naiadi Rome Hotel and Anantara New York Palace Budapest Hotel. In 2023, Anantara furthered its strategic expansion in Europe with the launches of Anantara Plaza Nice Hotel in France, Anantara Convento di Amalfi Grand Hotel on the famed Amalfi Coast in Italy, and Anantara The Marker Dublin Hotel in Ireland.
