Munich airport is the beginning of the Bavarian festival experience for millions of global visitors when Oktoberfest travels begin. With the traditional announcement of “O’zapft is!” which means ‘the beer has been tapped’, Oktoberfest starts at the festival grounds, and brings an array of authentic Bavarian traditions from singing, dancing and drinking along with cultural activities and festive hospitality in the airport for visitors to kick off the world renowned festivities.

Travellers and visitors can experience an authentic Bavarian festive atmosphere at the airport through traditional costume showcases, the popular Airbräu Oktoberfest celebration, live Bavarian brass music and a range of themed activities. Adding to the warm welcome, guests are also presented with traditional gingerbread hearts, a much-loved symbol of the festival.
