Network Rail, Hadley Wood

During the festive season, more than 100 Network Rail colleagues will be tirelessly working to implement crucial railway upgrades in Hadley Wood. This significant project, with an investment of £1.6 million, aims to enhance the overhead line equipment (OLE) responsible for powering trains on this route.

The dedicated teams will be replacing nine overhead line stanchions spanning a distance of 600 meters. Upon completion, passengers will enjoy a more contemporary and dependable railway, resulting in fewer disruptions.

The decision to carry out this work during the Christmas period was deliberate, as trains do not operate on Christmas Day and Boxing Day, ensuring minimal impact on passengers.

Josh Mayer, an OLE Project engineer on Network Rail’s East Coast route, will be actively involved in this project during the festive season. He expressed, “Our efforts in Hadley Wood this Christmas will contribute to a more robust and trustworthy railway for our passengers, aiding them in reaching their destinations punctually. We are executing this work during a period of no scheduled services to minimize inconvenience for travelers. We eagerly anticipate the completion of this project and the positive impact it will have on passengers, providing them with smoother journeys and a more modernized railway.”
