New York City Tourism + Conventions proudly continues its affiliation with the Meetings Mean Business Coalition and the celebration of Global Meetings Industry Day (GMID). For almost ten years, the Meetings Mean Business Coalition has promoted the essential role of in-person meetings, conventions, and business events, as well as their substantial effects on local economies and the national tourism sector. Our annual Tristate Meeting Planner event, in honor of GMID, forms part of a citywide celebration. This year, we will illuminate New York City in blue, showcasing iconic landmarks such as One Bryant Park, One Five One, SUMMIT One Vanderbilt, Rockefeller Center, One World Trade Center, Pier 17 at The Seaport, Coney Island Parachute Jump, Empire Outlets, Sven, and the Javits Center. We are excited to continue our collaboration with event professionals to bring delegates from around the globe to New York City this year and in the future.
Business travel constitutes about 20 percent of all visits to New York City each year, with roughly 12.6 million business travelers anticipated in 2024. Leading the forefront in business and meeting sectors, New York City is enhancing its offerings with new developments and significant investments across all five boroughs. This includes maintaining over 120,000 hotel rooms with an additional 10,000 rooms expected by 2027, alongside exclusive, world-class experiences in dining, Broadway, arts, culture, entertainment, and shopping. The Javits Center, the busiest convention center in the nation, continues to lead in sustainability, security, and technology advancements.
