India has launched a new Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train Travel adventure to boost spiritual tourism by offering an 11-day pilgrimage journey connecting travellers with some of the country’s most revered sacred destinations. Starting from Indore, the special train tour will take passengers to Puri, Gangasagar, Gaya, Varanasi and Ayodhya while providing integrated travel services, accommodation, meals and guided sightseeing. Operated under the Dekho Apna Desh initiative, the pilgrimage package aims to make religious travel more comfortable, affordable and accessible for domestic travellers seeking a well-organised journey across India’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage.

Indian Railways is set to offer a special spiritual travel experience with an 11-day Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train pilgrimage starting from Indore. The specially designed journey will take travellers across some of India’s most sacred religious destinations, including Puri, Gangasagar, Kolkata, Gaya, Varanasi and Ayodhya. Scheduled from September 15 to September 25, 2026, the 10-night and 11-day pilgrimage aims to provide a comfortable and organised way for passengers to explore India’s cultural and spiritual heritage.

Operating under the Dekho Apna Desh initiative, the Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train programme focuses on encouraging domestic tourism by connecting travellers with important heritage and pilgrimage locations. The initiative combines railway travel, accommodation, meals and sightseeing facilities into a single package, making religious tourism more accessible for passengers.

Bharat Gaurav Train Offers Three Package Categories for Travellers

The special pilgrimage tour has been introduced with three different travel categories to meet the needs of passengers with different preferences and budgets. The Economy package is priced at INR 19,600 per person, while the Standard package with 3AC train accommodation costs INR 31,850 per person. The premium Comfort category, featuring 2AC train travel, is available at INR 41,900 per person.

Each category provides different levels of accommodation and transport facilities. The Economy package includes non-air-conditioned accommodation and transport arrangements. The Standard option provides air-conditioned hotel stays along with non-AC transport facilities. The Comfort package offers upgraded services with AC hotels, AC transportation and premium 2AC railway travel.

The package includes confirmed train tickets according to the selected travel category, vegetarian meals throughout the journey and daily drinking water facilities. Passengers will receive breakfast, lunch and dinner during the pilgrimage, along with two litres of water per person every day.

The tour cost also covers sightseeing transfers, assistance from a dedicated tour escort, security personnel available in each train coach, travel insurance and applicable taxes. These facilities are planned to provide passengers with a smooth and hassle-free pilgrimage experience.

Spiritual Route Connects India’s Most Revered Religious Destinations

The Bharat Gaurav Tourist Train journey has been carefully planned to cover several major pilgrimage centres across eastern and northern India. The route includes some of the country’s most famous religious landmarks, allowing passengers to experience different traditions and spiritual practices during one extended journey.

The first major destination on the itinerary is Puri in Odisha, where travellers will visit the iconic Jagannath Temple. Recognised as one of India’s most important Hindu pilgrimage sites, the temple attracts millions of devotees every year.

The journey will then continue towards Gangasagar in West Bengal, a sacred destination located at the meeting point of the Ganga River and the Bay of Bengal. The site holds immense religious significance and remains one of the most visited pilgrimage locations in eastern India.

Passengers will also travel to Gaya in Bihar, an ancient city associated with ancestral rituals and spiritual traditions. The visit includes the famous Vishnupad Temple, where devotees perform religious ceremonies.

The pilgrimage will further take travellers to Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities in the world and a major centre of Hindu spirituality. Visitors will get the opportunity to offer prayers at the renowned Kashi Vishwanath Temple.

The final major religious destination on the route will be Ayodhya, where passengers will visit the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple before beginning their return journey to Indore.

On Day 3, passengers will arrive near Puri at Malatipatpur/Sakhi Gopal Railway Station and continue their journey by road to their accommodation. The day will include a visit to Jagannath Puri Temple, followed by an overnight stay in Puri.

On Day 4, the train will depart from Puri towards Kolkata. The following day, passengers will reach Kolkata and travel by road to Gangasagar, where they will stay overnight.

On Day 6, travellers will return to Kolkata and visit Kali Mandir before leaving for Gaya in the evening. On Day 7, passengers will arrive in Gaya and visit Vishnupad Temple before the train continues towards Varanasi.

The eighth day will focus on Varanasi sightseeing, including a visit to Kashi Vishwanath Temple, followed by an overnight stay in the city.

On Day 9, passengers will travel from Varanasi to Ayodhya and visit the Ram Janmabhoomi Temple. The return journey towards Indore will begin in the evening.

On the final two days, passengers will be able to disembark at selected stations. Day 10 includes drop-off points such as Katni, Jabalpur, Narsinghpur, Itarsi, Rani Kamlapati, Sehore and Shujalpur. The pilgrimage will officially conclude on Day 11 with passengers reaching Ujjain and Indore.
