Alaska cruise tourism is preparing for a 2027 season. Holland America Line is celebrating 80 years in Alaska bringing six ships, new routes, longer Arctic trips and more Denali adventures. From April, to September the schedule will link travellers from Seattle, Vancouver and Whittier to Alaska’s coast and wild places.
Holland America Line is setting its sights on a significant year in Alaska as the cruise company prepares to mark eight decades of operations in the destination in 2027. Following the conclusion of its 2026 programme, the next season will bring six ships to the region alongside new cruise options, long-duration voyages, British Columbia combinations and improvements to its Denali accommodation.
The 2027 Alaska season will operate between April and September, with cruises beginning from Seattle, Vancouver and Whittier. The programme reflects the continuing importance of Alaska within Holland America Line’s North American operations and provides travellers with several ways to combine coastal cruising with wilderness and inland experiences.

Six Ships Will Power the Anniversary Season
Holland America Line has allocated Eurodam, Koningsdam, Nieuw Amsterdam, Noordam, Westerdam and Zaandam to its 2027 Alaska programme.
Operating from three different gateways gives travellers greater flexibility when planning their journeys. Seattle provides a major US departure point, Vancouver connects passengers directly with the Pacific coast of Canada, while Whittier serves as an Alaska gateway for itineraries that can be combined with inland travel.

The six-ship deployment will cover different voyage lengths and destination combinations throughout the summer.
Vancouver Gains New Eight-Day Inside Passage Voyage
One of the biggest changes for 2027 is the introduction of an eight-day Alaska Inside Passage itinerary from Vancouver.
The cruise will operate round-trip from the Canadian city, adding another choice beyond the seven-day format commonly associated with Alaska cruising.
The Inside Passage is among the region’s best-known cruise corridors. Its protected waterways run through a landscape of islands, mountains, forests and coastal communities, making the route an important part of the Alaska cruise experience.
The additional day also gives Holland America Line an opportunity to broaden the itinerary while retaining Vancouver as both the starting and finishing point.
Epic 28-Day Alaska Adventure Returns
At the opposite end of the itinerary spectrum, Holland America Line will again offer its 28-day Legendary Alaska Arctic Circle Solstice voyage.

Scheduled to depart on 6 June 2027, the journey will return for a third year.
Rather than focusing primarily on the familiar week-long Alaska experience, the itinerary is designed around much deeper exploration of the region. Its departure date also positions passengers to experience northern Alaska close to the summer solstice, when daylight lasts exceptionally long.
The month-long format provides an alternative for travellers looking for a more extensive Alaska journey.
Great Bear Rainforest Adds Another Dimension
The 2027 programme will also push beyond Alaska by incorporating the wild Pacific coastline of British Columbia.
Noordam will operate a seven-day Great Bear Rainforest cruise, while Zaandam will offer two 18-day Great Bear Rainforest & Alaska Explorer voyages.
These journeys bring together two major nature-focused regions within one cruise programme.

British Columbia’s Great Bear Rainforest is recognised for its vast forests, coastal waterways and wildlife habitats. Combining the area with Alaska creates an alternative for passengers interested in wilderness-focused travel rather than a conventional port itinerary alone.
Denali Investment Strengthens Land Holidays
The anniversary year will not be limited to developments at sea.
Renovation work at the Holland America Denali Lodge is expected to reach completion in 2027, strengthening the company’s ability to offer inland extensions alongside its cruises.
Denali is a major component of Alaska’s tourism landscape. Land stays allow cruise passengers to travel beyond coastal ports and explore the state’s interior before or after sailing.
The lodge improvements therefore support a broader cruise-and-land strategy for the destination.
Community Funding Tops $320,000
Holland America Line also directed more than $320,000 towards organisations and initiatives in Anchorage, Juneau, Sitka, Ketchikan and Denali during its 2026 season.

This included $150,000 for the Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, a $75,000 commitment in Ketchikan, and $5,000 supporting local scouting activities.
Onboard fundraising generated a further more than $60,000 for Alaska Geographic.
Alaska Plans Already Stretch Into 2028
The 2027 anniversary is part of a longer Alaska strategy, with Holland America Line having already opened reservations for its 2028 Alaska programme.
Before then focus will be on its year in the region. With six ships, a Vancouver itinerary, a returning Arctic Circle journey, Great Bear Rainforest voyages and an upgraded Denali land product 2027 is set to become a major milestone, in Holland America Lines long Alaska cruise history.
