Oceania Cruises, celebrated for its culinary and destination-focused voyages, has proudly announced the appointment of Master Chefs of France, Chef Alexis Quaretti and Chef Eric Barale, as the new Executive Culinary Directors.

This pivotal move comes as they step into the roles previously held by the legendary Chef Jacques Pépin, the architect of Oceania Cruises’ esteemed culinary philosophy, The Finest Cuisine at Sea.

Chef Pépin will continue to enrich Oceania Cruises in his new capacity as Executive Culinary Adviser, while also devoting his expertise to the philanthropic efforts of The Jacques Pépin Foundation, an organization closely supported by Oceania Cruises since its foundation.

Frank A. Del Rio, President of Oceania Cruises, expressed his excitement about this transition, stating, “It’s truly remarkable to have two Master Chefs of France leading our culinary team. Chefs Alex and Eric are the next generation of our culinary innovation and will continue the evolution of our foodie story, carrying forward Jacques’ incredible legacy.”

Echoing this sentiment, Jacques Pépin shared, “I am so proud to be passing the baton to these two phenomenally talented chefs who have worked alongside me for the past twenty years. It’s a true pleasure to see how the line’s culinary innovation flourishes year after year, and I look forward to championing Chefs Alex and Eric further by being here for any advice or guidance needed. I look forward to dedicating more of my time to my charitable undertakings through The Jacques Pépin Foundation.”

Oceania Cruises stands out in the cruise industry as the only line to feature two Master Chefs of France, a testament to its unparalleled commitment to culinary excellence. Chef Alex and Chef Eric, both integral to the Oceania culinary team for years, bring a blend of complementary skills, experience, and shared vision that promises to advance the line’s esteemed culinary narrative.

As Oceania Cruises gears up for the launch of its new vessel, Allura, in 2025, expanding its fleet to eight ships and over 40 restaurants circumnavigating the globe, the leadership of these two accomplished Executive Culinary Directors ensures the continued delivery of The Finest Cuisine at Sea. Del Rio added, “With Allura launching in 2025, we will have eight ships in the fleet and more than 40 restaurants constantly circulating the globe, and having these two talented executive culinary directors at the helm means we can maintain our laser focus on serving The Finest Cuisine at Sea.”

Chefs Alex and Eric are also set to join a prestigious assembly of world-renowned chefs at the upcoming Jacques Pépin Foundation Gala in New York City on April 4, marking a new chapter in Oceania Cruises’ distinguished culinary journey and reinforcing its leadership in culinary innovation within the travel and tourism industry.
