The Top 100 Luxury Hotels in the Americas and Caribbean for 2026 were selected through a rigorous editorial and research framework developed by TTW’s editorial and research team. The evaluation combined accommodation quality, guest experience, architectural distinction, service excellence, culinary innovation, wellness, sustainability, destination appeal and international reputation across North America, Latin America and the Caribbean.
The study used descriptive, comparative and qualitative methods to assess city landmarks, beachfront resorts, wilderness lodges, mountain retreats, wine estates, rainforest sanctuaries, heritage properties, island escapes and wellness resorts. Research incorporated information from hotel brands, tourism boards, destination management organisations, hospitality associations, industry publications, performance reports, sustainability initiatives, travel intelligence platforms, international hospitality awards and guest experience evaluations.
Evaluation parameters included luxury accommodation and design excellence; personalised service and hospitality standards; architectural heritage and innovation; culinary experiences and fine dining; wellness, spa and lifestyle offerings; sustainability and responsible hospitality; location, accessibility and destination appeal; privacy, exclusivity and premium amenities; brand reputation and international recognition; and overall luxury travel experience.
Each hotel was benchmarked against leading properties within its destination and region using standardised indicators for accommodation quality, service consistency, guest satisfaction, architecture, wellness, gastronomy, sustainability, exclusivity, destination value and overall appeal. Coverage included North America: United States, Canada and Mexico; Central America: Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua and Panama; the Caribbean: Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Barbados, British Virgin Islands, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominica, Grenada, Jamaica, Puerto Rico, St. Barts, St. Lucia, and Turks and Caicos; and South America: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru.
Case studies recognised the United States for iconic urban luxury hotels, legendary resorts and global hospitality brands; Mexico for beachfront resorts and wellness destinations; Canada for wilderness lodges and sophisticated city hotels; Brazil for historic icons and design-led properties; and the Caribbean for private island resorts, boutique beachfront retreats and ultra-exclusive hospitality. Additional assessments highlighted Costa Rica’s eco-luxury leadership, Peru’s heritage hospitality, Chile’s landscape-driven resorts and Argentina’s vineyard luxury.
Findings were cross-validated using hospitality awards, hotel industry reports, tourism data, guest satisfaction indicators, sustainability benchmarks, luxury travel publications and destination research. TTW used a consistent editorial scoring framework to support transparency, regional balance and research integrity.
